Do Your Work, All by Yourself; It Is Central to Maximum Spirituality.

“He who enters the evening exhausted by his work, will sleep free of sins.”—At-Tabaraani

A number of pilgrims were narrating their experiences of Hajj to imam Jaffar al Saddiq {R} and recounting their views about their fellow pilgrims.

One person was immensely impressed by a fellow pilgrim and he said about that man:

“He was truly pious and an indefatigable worshipper of Allah {SWT}.

Whenever we broke journey to rest for the night, he retired to a secluded place, spread out his prayer mat and got engrossed in the worship of Allah {SWT}.

The imam enquired: “Who looked after the rest of his affairs? Who tended his camel?”

He replied, “Obviously, we performed all those duties for him to gain Allah’s pleasure.
He remained absorbed in the holy acts and had no time for such menial chores.”

The imam replied, “No wonder you achieved more than he did with all his piety and worship.”

Wow! Quite surprising that those men who humbly submitted themselves to do all the menial duties for the pious man to gain Allah’s pleasure were rewarded more than him {the excessively religious man}.

But then, didn’t the prophet {S} say that:

“He who enters the evening exhausted by his work, will sleep free of sins.”—At-Tabaraani

Knowing Allah {SWT} precedes worshipping Him.

Save other people from extra burden by doing all your work by yourself; it is central to maximum spiritual benefits.

May Allah {SWT} grant us knowledge. Aameen
