The Basis of Everlasting Superiority
“O mankind, indeed We have created
you from a male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know
one another.
Indeed, the most noble of you in
the sight of Allah {SWT} is the one among you most careful of his duty to Him.
Indeed Allah {SWT} is Knowing and
Acquainted.”—Al-Hujuraat Quran 49:13
Once, after becoming the caliph, Ali
{R} ascended the pulpit praised Allah {SWT} and addressed the assembly that
under his administration, nothing but strict justice and fairness will prevail;
and no one will be wronged.
At this point, ‘Aqil, the brother of
Ali {R} stood up and said:
“By Allah {SWT}! You have placed me
on par with that black person from Madinah.”
“Sit down! There is none except you
who could have spoken out in this gathering.
You do not possess any kind of
superiority over that black person, save for…
precedence
in Islam,…piety…
and righteousness.
These are the issues which bring
about superiority in the hereafter,” Ali cautioned him.
The Amirul-mu-mineen was right
because the Al-Furqan says:
“O mankind, indeed We have created
you from a male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know
one another.
Indeed, the most noble of you in the
sight of Allah {SWT} is the one among you most careful of his duty to Him.
Indeed Allah {SWT} is Knowing and
Acquainted.”—Al-Hujuraat Quran 49:13
PIETY & RIGHTEOUSNESS
Piety and righteousness are the
basis of spiritual powers, the only credentials for elevation in the hereafter. As long as we are alive, these should always be our main concern.
May AllahSWT put His fear in our
hearts. Aameen
