The Lord Helps Those Who Help Themselves



 “Verily, help is given by Allah {SWT} according to the preparation.”—Al-Bazzar


An extremely anxious and perplexed man visited imam Jafar al-Sadiq {R} and begged him to pray that Allah {SWT} increase his sustenance and relieve him of all financial stress.

The imam answered, “I shall certainly not pray for you.”

The poor man sighed and asked, “But why not? What have I done?”

The imam replied, “You know perfectly well that Allah {SWT} has devised means and ways of attaining prosperity. 

He has ordered you to leave your house and earn a living through hard work. You refuse to obey natural law of life and foolishly hope praying for you will bring you prosperity.”

To be a believer is way different from fooling around with natural laws. That is the essence of this story.

May AllahSWT grant us true Tawwakul. Aameen.

    In an authentic hadith from Sunan al-Tirmidhi ̄, a man asked the Prophet an important question that clarifies how to rely on Allah (SWT) as the Almighty Lord Who has Power over all things. The Day of Judgement Is the Day of Justice

    Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Allah will gather the servants naked, uncircumcised, and destitute.”   We said, “What is destitute?” The Prophet said, “They will have nothing with them. A heavenly caller will announce with a voice from afar: I am the King. It is not befitting for anyone from the people of Paradise to enter Paradise while anyone from the people of Hellfire is seeking redress for injustice. It is not befitting for anyone from the people of Hellfire to enter Hellfire while anyone from the people of Paradise is seeking redress from injustice.” I said, “How is it so?
