We Do Not Allow Greed to Approach Us




“When you are not greedy for this world, Allah loves you; and when you don’t desire what people have, they love you.”—Ibn Majah


Imam Muhammad Taqi {R} used to lead a very simple and austere life. His dress used to be of very ordinary fabric.

One day, someone told him that since he sat besides the king, it did not befit him to wear such simple clothes.

The imam said:

“If my value had been due to my clothes, it would have befitted me to wear expensive clothes. But when it is not so, why should I give up simplicity?

My present dress is concealing my body and it is also comfortable. Then why should I give it up for a fashionable one?

We Ahlul-Bayt are content on whatever we get and we do not allow greed to approach us.”


Do Not Allow Greed to Approach You

“We do not allow greed to approach us.”

You can make that statement your affirmation to guard yourself against temptations of greed. Remember, when you are not greedy for this world, Allah {SWT} loves you.

May Allah {SWT} protect us from weakness. Aameen

    Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Allah will gather the servants naked, uncircumcised, and destitute.”   We said, “What is destitute?” The Prophet said, “They will have nothing with them. A heavenly caller will announce with a voice from afar: I am the King. It is not befitting for anyone from the people of Paradise to enter Paradise while anyone from the people of Hellfire is seeking redress for injustice.
