Be Faithful to Your Trust, No Matter What

“There is no faith for the one who does not keep the trust given to him, and there is no religion for the one who does not keep his covenant.”—Ahmad

Abdullah Ibn Sinaan says:

“I approached imam Sadiq (RA) in the mosque at a time when he had completed his Asr prayer and was sitting down facing Qiblah. I asked him:

“Some of the governors and rulers consider us to be trustworthy and thus place their wealth with us, but at the same time, they do not pay their “khums” (i.e. our due from them). Do we return their money to them or do we keep it for our use?”

Al-Saqiq (RA) replied three times, “By the Lord of the Ka’bah! Even if Ibn Muljam, the murderer of my father Ali (RA) were to place something in trust with me, I would return it to him whenever he wanted it back.”

This is how serious keeping trust actually is, no matter who they are, no matter what they may have done; ignore all that, and fulfill your trusts for the sake of Allah (SWT).

May Allah (SWT) grant us grant us understanding. Aamiin.
