Repent, O Slave of Allah!

“Say: ‘O My servants who wronged against their souls, do not despair of Allah’s mercy! For Allah forgives all sins; for He is indeed Forgiving, Compassionate.’”(Az-Zumar: 53)

The grace of repentance is one of the signs the immeasurable Mercy of Allah.

True repentance is remorse for the sins of the past and also a determination to surrender one’s will to Allah. It involves both being sorry for the consequences of sin and then despising the sin itself.

Fortunately, it is really never too late for a believer to repent. As long as the repentance is remorseful and sincere, Allah SWT is willing to forgive any sins, no matter the size or form.

In essence, to repent, we ask Allah for forgiveness and do all we can to correct whatever harm our actions may have caused. Repentance means a change of attitude from doing the things that are wrong to doing the things that are right.

As we are praying and hoping for the best from Allah (SWT), we should always keep this point in mind: the opportunity of repentance is ever present until the sinner is having the pulse of death according to authentic narration from our dear Prophet (SAW).

To repent, just perform ablutions and offer two-rakat prayer of repentance properly.

Then act by the Islamic conditions of reform as stated in the next section of this article:

 Five Essential Elements of Repentance

Number 1: Deep remorse for the committed sin or sins as the case may be.

Number 2: Staying away from the circumstances that could lead to repetition the same sin or sins.

Number 3: Resolve to never commit the sin anymore.

Number 4: Being eager to engage in good deeds, going forward.

Number 5: If the sins involve the rights of others, we must do our best to compensate anyone that has been wronged. This is really a core condition of a repentance of any sins that directly affect the rights of others.

If we do this sincerely and properly, we can expect Allah’s Mercy to wipe us clean from the harms of our past errors, InshaAllah.

May Allah, the Mighty and Majestic purify our hearts for good.  Aameen
