The Most Precious Days of the Year
"And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty." [al-Hijr 15:99]
The Ummah of Muhammad (SAW) is the most favour community among all nations in history of mankind. And one of the greatest favours of Allah upon them is the gift of the BEST ten days of the year.
Those days are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, which have been made special by Allah, the Most High.
To understand this better, let’s examine an authentic hadith reported by Imam Bukhari as follows:
Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?"
He (SAW) said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing."
These ten days are so powerful that Allah, SWT swears by them in the glorious Quran, Suratul Fajr, Quran 89 verses 1 and 2:
"By the dawn: by the ten nights"
Therefore, we should try our best to do a lot of good deeds in these ten days. And most especially, we should fast on the Day of ‘Arafaah (the greatest day of hajj). Fasting on this day will clear out the sins of two years, the immediate preceding and the immediate succeeding year.
May Allah (SWT) grant us taofeeq to profit from this great bounty that is only reserved for the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW). Aameen.
