What We Give, We Shall Find

The irony of human life is that we can lose everything we’ve ever worked for at any moment through the occurrence of death.

Yet, when we get the opportunity to spend our wealth for good causes, many of us are miserly, forgetting what we spend in those moments of good constitute the only wealth that will follow till eternity. Everything else belongs to the people we leave behind.

The textual support of this truth is found in Sahih Bukhari where the Prophet (SAW) counsel us on making wise choices as regards our material resources.

Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Who among you considers the wealth of his heirs dearer to him than his own wealth?"

They replied, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! There is none among us but loves his own wealth more."

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "So his wealth is whatever he spends (in Allah's Cause) during his life (on good deeds) while the wealth of his heirs is whatever he leaves after his death."

Therefore, let’s desist from hoarding money and strive to do every good possible with our wealth when we have the chance to do so.

May Allah (SWT) guide us aright. Aameen
