Warning Against False Oaths

 
 

Today, we want to learn about the gravity of taking false oaths as revealed in the Quran and Sunnah.

Since the hadith is a little long, let’s get straight to the point:

Abdullah (bin Masud) said, "Whoever takes a (false) oath in order to grab some property (unjustly), Allah will be angry with him when he will meet Him.

Allah confirmed that through His Divine Revelation: "Verily! Those who purchase a little gain at the cost of Allah's covenant and their oaths . . . they will have a painful punishment." (3.77)

Al-Ashath bin Qais came to us and asked, 'What is Abu Abdur-Rahman (i.e. Abdullah) telling you? 'We told him what he was narrating to us.

He said, 'He was telling the truth; this Divine Verse was revealed in connection with me. There was a dispute between me and another man about something and the case was filed before Allah's Apostle (SAW) who said:

'Produce your two witnesses or else the defendant is to take an oath.'

I said, the defendant will surely take a (false) oath caring for nothing.'

The Prophet (SAW) said, 'Whoever takes a false oath in order to grab (other's) property, then Allah will be angry with him when he will meet Him.'

Then Allah revealed its confirmation. Al-Ashath then recited the above Divine Verse." (3.77)

May Allah (SWT) save us from fatal injustice against our own souls. Amin

Tie Your Camel and Put Your Trust in Allah (SWT)

    In an authentic hadith from Sunan al-Tirmidhi ̄, a man asked the Prophet an important question that clarifies how to rely on Allah (SWT) as the Almighty Lord Who has Power over all things.     Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Allah will gather the servants naked, uncircumcised, and destitute.”   We said, “What is destitute?” The Prophet said, “They will have nothing with them. A heavenly caller will announce with a voice from afar: I am the King. It is not befitting for anyone from the people of Paradise to enter Paradise while anyone from the people of Hellfire is seeking redress for injustice. It is not befitting for anyone from the people of Hellfire to enter Hellfire while anyone from the people of Paradise is seeking redress from injustice.” I said, “How is it so?
