Associate No One With Allah, the Most High
The essence of Tawheed is to believe in no other gods besides Allah, SWT.
It is basically what differentiates between a Muslim and non-Muslims.
However, Sound Tawheed goes deeper than that. It entails that we are cautions enough never to associate anything with Allah in thoughts, words and action on devotions of worship or/and acts of supplication.
In the following hadith from Sahih Bukhari, we can learn about the people who have the purest form of Tawheed that Islam expects from every sane Muslim:
As narrated by Abdullah: When the following Verse was revealed:
"It is those who believe and confuse not their belief with wrong (worshipping others besides Allah.)" (6:83), the companions of Allah's Apostle asked,
"Who is amongst us who had not done injustice (wrong)?" Allah revealed:
"No doubt, joining others in worship with Allah is a great injustice (wrong) indeed." (31.13)
As we can see, joining others in worship with Allah is the worst form of injustice from the Creation and thus, a blemish on one’s Tawheed.
May Allah, SWT guide us aright. Aameen
